Mickey Stephens SAVANNAH, GA - From Savannah State University President Kimberly Ballard-Washington: “The Savannah State University family is saddened by the passing of Georgia House Representative and Savannah State University alumnus Mickey Stephens (’71). Although Representative Stephens had been ill recently, he remained a strong advocate, ensuring the university’s needs were addressed by the general assembly. He was a friend and mentor, ably guiding me through the legislative process. We have lost a great man who worked tirelessly for his constituents and his community. Serving faithfully for over a decade, Representative Stephens embodied Savannah State University’s motto, "Lux et Veritas" (Light and Truth). Savannah State University Welcomes Students for Fall Semester

Megan Davidson has been named vice president for Business and Financial Affairs at Savannah State University. August 5, 2021   SAVANNAH, GA – Megan Davidson joins Savannah State University (SSU) as its new vice president for Business and Financial Affairs. Davidson assumes responsibility for managing all areas of business and financial affairs including accounting, budget, payroll, human resources, campus police, information technology, plant operations, office of the bursar, and auxiliary services. “Mrs. Davidson has been a leader at several University System of Georgia institutions and served on various University System committees,” Kimberly Ballard-Washington, president at Savannah State University said. “Her tireless work ethic, centered on policy, is rooted in her passion for student success. Savannah State University has canceled account balances for students enrolled in Spring 2020 through Summer 2021 semesters.  Savannah State University Clears Student Debt HEERF Funding Provides Financial Relief   SAVANNAH, GA – Savannah State University has canceled account balances for students enrolled in Spring 2020 through Summer 2021 semesters. The university received substantial support from the federal government under the CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).
