Clean-up crews are removing some fallen trees and storm debris throughout the campus. There are no reports of damaged buildings or impact to any of the facilities. The campus has power. All classes will continue online asynchronously through Friday, Sept. 1. The campus is closed for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4. Normal operations and in-person classes will resume on Sept. 5.

The Dept of Public Safety's phone lines have been intermittently down because of the storm. In case of emergency call (912) 414-7532 or 911. As always during the storm, stay indoors and stay safe.

The SSU administrators are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia and potential impact on the Savannah area. Given the latest forecast for Storm Idalia, all classes will be shifted online beginning Wednesday, August 30 in an asynchronous style learning environment through Friday, September 1. Monday, September 4 is a holiday; so, classes will resume according to normal schedules on Tuesday, September 5.

We encourage all students that are able, to go home upon completion of classes on Tuesday, August 29th. Please ensure that you take home your laptop, books and any files necessary to successfully work from home from Wednesday to Friday. For any student that cannot go home, our residence halls will remain open, and dining services will be provided on a modified schedule.
Essential personnel include staff from the Department of Public Safety and Campus Police, Facilities, Information Technology as well as select Student Affairs team members. All other employees should refrain from coming to campus and should plan to work remotely during normal business hours.
We will
update you through campus email and postings to the SSU Social Media sites if
there are any further modifications to classes and/or University
operations.

- Sign up for the SSU Emergency
Alert system known as Everbridge
- Emergency alerts (savannahstate.edu)
- Keep your laptop and cell phone
charged. If possible have a rechargeable portable charger ready for use
- Locate or purchase a flashlight
and ensure you have extra batteries on hand
- Pack a backpack size bag with
necessities to include your charging devices and chargers, prescription
medicine, several days’ worth of clothing, toiletries, textbooks and other
essential items
