Savannah State University Announces Commencement Plans for Fall Graduates

Savannah State University's 199th Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.

Savannah State University (SSU) will hold its 199th undergraduate and graduate commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 10 at T. A. Wright Stadium. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Approximately 296 students will receive master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees.


Each student will be allowed to invite a maximum of eight guests. Students and guests will be encouraged to wear masks and social distance during the event. All ceremonies will be live-streamed. This was a year of positive change, strategic growth and   major   accomplishments for our beloved Savannah State University (SSU). Dr. Jermaine Whirl Named SSU President

Dr. Jermaine Whirl   The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today named Dr. Jermaine Whirl president of Savannah State University (SSU), effective April 1, 2025. Whirl, an Aspen Fellow, most recently served as president of Augusta Technical College (ATC), a role he has held since November 2020. Whirl’s career includes nearly 20 years of service as a faculty member and administrative leader at public colleges and universities in his home state of South Carolina and in Georgia.
