Chick-fil-A Now Open On Campus

Chick-fil-A is officially open on the campus of Savannah State University! Located in the Student Union Food Court, the new dining service option will allow the campus community to enjoy all Chick-fil-A has to offer.    

President Kimberly Ballard-Washington provides welcoming remarks during the event. 

"Thank you to everyone involved in this project," said Eric Young, Senior Food Service Director with Aladdin Campus Dining. "We are finally open and operating, and ready to go. This dining option will spearhead new things to come for our dining services and options at Savannah State. What an excellent brand Chick-fil-A is; we've learned a lot together, and it has been a wonderful journey."

During the grand opening ceremony, President Kimberly Ballard-Washington addressed the audience. 

"We are so excited to welcome a company like Chick-fil-A to the table, so our students can all have the dining experience that they know and enjoy. Thank you to Aladdin; thank you to Chick-fil-A and welcome to Savannah State University!" 

Chick-fil-A will be open during the Student Union Hours of Operation, Monday - Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12 a.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. 

Students can now enjoy Chick-fil-A in the Student Union food court.

Dr. Jermaine Whirl Named SSU President

Dr. Jermaine Whirl   The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today named Dr. Jermaine Whirl president of Savannah State University (SSU), effective April 1, 2025. Whirl, an Aspen Fellow, most recently served as president of Augusta Technical College (ATC), a role he has held since November 2020. Whirl’s career includes nearly 20 years of service as a faculty member and administrative leader at public colleges and universities in his home state of South Carolina and in Georgia.
