Savannah State University Receives $20,000 Donation from Pittman Enterprises

Savannah State University is the recipient of a $20,000 donation from Pittman Enterprises, the parent company of Chatham Parkway Motors. A check presentation ceremony was recently held to celebrate the gift, which President Kimberly Ballard-Washington proudly accepted on behalf of the university. 

"We are so grateful to receive this gift from Pittman Enterprises," said President Ballard-Washington. Having organizations recognize the good that is going on with our students and the opportunity that exists to help them further themselves is a wonderful thing, and we are very appreciative for the dedication they have to higher education."  

Four additional local community organizations were given donations including the American Red Cross, Faith Equestrian, United Way and The Salvation Army totaling $37,464. 

“We feel a deep conviction about giving back in ways that truly strengthen our community and bring real help to people,” says Winston Pittman Sr. “This unique list of charities we selected all have strong missions with real outcomes that help a lot of people living right here in and around Savannah.” 

Officials from Pittman Enterprises donated more than $37,000 to five local community organizations including Savannah State University, American Red Cross, Faith Equestrian, United Way and The Salvation Army.

Savannah State University Presidential Search Committee Named

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 13, 2024 The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today named members of the Savannah State University (SSU) Presidential Search Committee. The committee will conduct a national search for a permanent president to lead the historic university. President Cynthia Robinson Alexander has held the interim role since July 1, 2023, following the departure of the previous president, Kimberly Ballard-Washington.
