Savannah State University Now Accepting Nominations for Founders Day Awards

Savannah State University Now Accepting Nominations for Founders Day Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Savannah State University Founders Day awards:

  • Richard R. Wright Award of Excellence
  • Cyrus G. Wiley Distinguished Alumni Award. 

The honorees will be recognized during Savannah State University’s Founders Day on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. The event celebrates the history of the institution and those who have contributed to its success. The ceremony includes a guest speaker.

Award criteria and the online nomination form can be found HERE. Attachments that are either too large or numerous to attach to the nomination form may be emailed to ua@savannahstate.edu or delivered to the Division of University Advancement located at Hill Hall on the Savannah State University campus, 3219 College Street, Savannah, Ga 31404. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, Oct. 20, 2023.

Savannah State University Presidential Search Committee Named

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 13, 2024 The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today named members of the Savannah State University (SSU) Presidential Search Committee. The committee will conduct a national search for a permanent president to lead the historic university. President Cynthia Robinson Alexander has held the interim role since July 1, 2023, following the departure of the previous president, Kimberly Ballard-Washington.
