Mr. Adrian Scott Named Vice President for University Advancement
and Executive Director of the SSU Foundation
Savannah State University (SSU) Interim President Cynthia Robinson Alexander, J.D., is pleased to announce that Mr. Adrian Scott has joined Savannah State University as Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the SSU Foundation effective June 17, 2024.
Mr. Scott brings a wealth of experience in advancement operations, fundraising, and donor and alumni relations. He will lead SSU’s fundraising, donor relations, and alumni affairs team at a time when the support of alumni, friends, and donors is critical to the university’s planned growth.
Scott joins SSU from South Carolina State University where he has most recently served as Associate Vice President for Advancement and Chief Development Officer. Prior to this appointment, Scott served three other historically black colleges – Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina, Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Throughout his 19-year tenure in advancement, Scott has held various leadership positions including Director of the Annual Fund, Director of Development, and Assistant Vice President. His demonstrated success includes:
- Building and leading teams in annual giving, communications, and alumni relations to increase philanthropic support.
- Working with external boards and corporate partners to increase endowed and annual scholarships.
- Redesigning internal partnerships to connect constituents across departments and programs in support of advancement.
President Alexander added, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to Ms. LeAndrea Mikell for her outstanding leadership of the advancement team. During her tenure, the team surpassed the Scholarship Gala goal, increased scholarships provided to students, and several of her team members have been recognized for their unwavering commitment and service to SSU. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Mikell will continue to play a significant role as a member of the SSU leadership team.”
