SSU Announces 40 Under 40 Awards

Savannah State University (SSU) is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural 40 Under 40 Awards to recognize young alumni of the university who have made significant contributions to their profession and community.

“Ideal candidates for the award should have achieved notable professional success, demonstrated exceptional leadership in their fields, made a positive impact in their communities and embodied the values and mission of Savannah State University,” said Cynthia Robinson Alexander, J.D., SSU Interim President.

A nomination form is available HERE. The form requires the nominee's contact information, a brief description of their accomplishments, and an explanation of why they deserve to be recognized. The nomination deadline is August, 30, 2024. Only graduates of Savannah State University may submit a nomination. Only two nominations are allowed from each nominator. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee; the inaugural 40 Under 40 award recipients will be recognized during a special event on campus later this calendar year.

“Your participation in this nomination process is vital to recognizing the remarkable talents and contributions of our graduates and how much they contribute to their professional field and their community,” said Marius Davis, SSU Alumni Director.

Successful nominees must satisfy the following qualifications:
  • Must possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Savannah State University
  • Must be 40 years or younger in age by December 31, 2024
  • Have a record of professional or philanthropic endeavors in one or more areas such as business, media, research, arts, leadership, community, government, education, engineering, philanthropy, or other areas
  • The nomination is submitted by a Savannah State University graduate
  • For an applicant to be considered for review, there must be a completed nominator and nominee form by August 30, 2024
Additionally, requirements for individuals selected as award recipients include:
  • Must provide a professional headshot and biography
  • Must participate in video reflections and advertisement
  • Must be present at the ceremony to receive Award of Recognition
  • Must demonstrate a personal commitment to Savannah State University through financial support, volunteerism, fostering relationships, or other
  • Financial commitment to the university (all proceeds support scholarships)

Inaugural Class of Nominees Recognizes Achievements of Young Alumni Savannah, GA – Savannah State University (SSU) recently announced the inaugural Class of 40 Under 40 Awards recipients, a prestigious recognition to applaud the outstanding success stories of its young alumni and inspire current and future students.   SSU will honor the recipients with an award ceremony including recipients, guests and faculty on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.   The award recognizes the contributions of individuals who have excelled in their respective fields before the age of 40.
