Hurricane Milton Update October 10, 2024 3:32 PM

Greetings Savannah State University Community,

The National Weather Service forecasts that today through Saturday, the Savannah weather will be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the 70s and low temperatures in the mid-50s and that Hurricane Milton has moved offshore into the Atlantic Ocean.

This morning, the Savannah State Emergency Management team completed a full analysis of the campus to ascertain the conditions and any impact that may have occurred. This analysis indicates that there were no power outages or significant impact to campus facilities. The team will continue monitoring the campus to ensure all facilities are operational.

While classes will continue online on Friday, October 11, we look forward to resuming normal campus operations.  All employees are expected to return to work in person unless otherwise communicated.

We are grateful that our campus was not impacted, and our thoughts are with those affected by the storm. Moreover, we appreciate the members of the SSU family that mobilized to prepare the campus for this weather event.

As always, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority.
