Campus Update: Inclement Weather 1.8.2025

Dear Savannah State University Community,

A winter weather storm is expected to impact Georgia this weekend with concerns for accumulating ice (freezing rain) over parts of north & central Georgia beginning Friday.  Temperatures may trend slightly colder than the current forecast indicates, which could lead to ice accumulations farther south in central Georgia.

As forecasters warn of heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain across the region; expect the potential for dangerous road conditions as ice and snow accumulate and frigid temperatures.  Please exercise extreme caution as you make your travel plans.

The campus continues to operate under a normal schedule. The Emergency Management Team and SSU Senior Leadership Team will continue to monitor the weather conditions and keep you updated on potential hazards that could affect our campus community.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Savannah State University Public Safety Department at 912.358.3004.

By collaborating with local, national, and international partners, we have secured internship opportunities for our students in manufacturing, healthcare, and several Dutch-owned companies, pursuant to a successful summer visit with the King and Queen of the Neth...
