Dear SSU Community,
This is a reminder to ensure that everyone is prepared for the inclement weather. Your safety and well-being are our top priority and we encourage you to take a few important steps to be ready.
Here’s how you can prepare:
  1. Monitor Weather Updates: Stay informed by checking official updates from SSU. We will provide notifications through email and our campus website.
  2. Prepare for Disruptions: We will communicate any change in proposed schedules promptly.
  3. Charge Your Devices: Ensure that your mobile devices and laptops are fully charged and consider having a portable charger as well. If power is interrupted for a prolonged period, we are preparing to offer on campus warming and power stations for students.
  4. Dress Warmly and Dress in Layers: If you need to be outside, wear appropriate clothing, including layers, hats, gloves, and waterproof shoes. Keep a warm coat, scarf, and extra gloves or socks on hand.
  5. Stay Safe on Campus (Shelter in place): If snow or ice is expected, be cautious when walking on campus. Stay on cleared paths and watch for icy patches. Avoid walking through areas that are not properly cleared.
  6. Emergency Kit: If you commute, keep an emergency kit in your car with essentials such as water, snacks, a flashlight, extra warm clothing, and a fully charged power bank.
  7. Stay Connected: Follow SSU’s social media and savannahstate.edu for updates on weather-related changes or closures. Make sure your contact information is up to date in our emergency notification system.
  8. Know Who to Contact: For questions about weather-related changes or emergencies, please reach out to the Office of Public Safety at 912.358.3004
  9. Please be sure you are signed up for the Everbridge app for emergency updates.
