SSU Celebrates "Savannah State University Day" at the Georgia State Capitol


Savannah State University (SSU) proudly marked its presence at the Georgia State Capitol during its annual "Savannah State University Day" on February 18, 2025. The event, which serves to highlight the university’s contributions to Georgia’s educational landscape and the broader community, provided an opportunity for SSU’s leadership, students, faculty, and alumni to engage with state legislators and showcase the university’s achievements.

The event featured a series of greetings and networking opportunities, underscoring the vital role Savannah State University plays in shaping the future of Georgia’s workforce. It also provided an avenue for SSU to advocate for continued state support to enhance the institution's infrastructure.

Interim President Cynthia Robinson Alexander. J.D. expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the university’s presence at the state’s Capitol: "Savannah State University is deeply honored to participate in this special event at the Georgia State Capitol. We are proud of our rich history, our commitment to academic excellence, and the positive impact we continue to make in our community. Today is a celebration of our continued progress and a testament to the bright future we are building together. We are thankful for the ongoing support of our state legislators, whose partnership helps ensure that Savannah State remains a key driver of opportunity and success for all students."

During the event, SSU’s leadership shared insights on the university’s strategic initiatives, including its efforts in enhancing student success, expanding academic programs, and fostering partnerships. Participants also had the opportunity to meet legislators and be recognized during legislative session.

Savannah State University Presidential Search Committee Named

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 13, 2024 The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) today named members of the Savannah State University (SSU) Presidential Search Committee. The committee will conduct a national search for a permanent president to lead the historic university. President Cynthia Robinson Alexander has held the interim role since July 1, 2023, following the departure of the previous president, Kimberly Ballard-Washington.
